Bobbie's Dairy Dip, Nashville

If you live in Nashville, you’re probably already aware that the food scene—like the rest of the town—is booming. You can’t throw a rock without hitting a trendy new restaurant (or two). It can be hard to keep up with so many options! Where do you go when you just need a quick bite to eat that doesn’t put a dent in your wallet?

Thankfully, there are still plenty of great spots to grab a cheap, delicious lunch. Here are just a few:

  1. International Market & Restaurant – Both a grocery market and restaurant as the name suggests, International Market & Restaurant has a wide selection of Asian fare you can eat there or carry out! Most items on the cafeteria-style Steam Table Menu cost less than $3, with the Special Order Plates topping out $8.50.
  2. Arnold’s Country Kitchen – It’s Nashville’s signature meat and three joint. Get a hearty dose of homegrown southern staples like turnip greens, country-fried steak, and fried green tomatoes. The Meat & 3 plate comes in right under $10.
  3. La Hacienda – It was already a well-established local favorite before President Obama made a stop for tacos at La Hacienda during one of his visits to Nashville in 2014. Since then, it’s become one of the most popular spots in town for Mexican cuisine. Stop in during lunch and get two enchiladas, rice, and beans for just $5.99.
  4. Bobbie’s Dairy Dip – Hop on over to Charlotte Ave. for a taste of Bobbie’s time-tested burgers, shakes, and ice cream. They first started serving customers in West Nashville in 1951, and it’s safe to say they’ve perfected their craft. The best part? Almost everything on the menu is about $5 or less. Try a burger, hand-cut fries, and one of Bobbie’s famous dipped soft serve cones.
  5. I Dream of Weenie – There’s no doubt this Volkswagen bus turned hot dog stand is the quirkiest contender on the list. It’s also one of the cheapest! Have a Frank and to the Point Weenie for $3 or stop by on Sunday for Weenie Brunch to have the Eggs Benedict Weenie—it’s only $4.
  6. Joey’s House of Pizza – All of the ingredients at this authentic New York-style pizzeria are made from scratch each day. You can’t beat their pizza by the slice prices—they start at $2.31!
