6 Websites with Free Car-Themed Games for Kids (& Adults Alike!)

Looking for a way to keep your kids (or perhaps yourself) entertained as winter weather forces us to spend more time inside? Give these websites with free online car games a test drive for a few hours of entertainment. There are great gaming options for all ages! Some challenge creativity, teach kids the science behind racing, and let children play with their favorite TV and movie characters. No car insurance required!
(But if you need coverage for your real-life vehicle, call, click, or come by today!)
1. Hot Wheels
Hot Wheels’ website offers an entire library full of different games to play. Your child can race through the streets while collecting power-ups, destroy old vehicles in a monster truck, or take on challenging loops and stunts. If you want to put your child’s creativity to the test, try the Track Builder game and see what course they can come up with.
2. Miniclip
Created in 2001, Miniclip has become one of the world’s premier sites to visit for free online games. The company has developed and published more than 1,000 games, and they span a tremendous number of categories. Choose from driving & parking, motocross, motorsports, or racing. If you have a young child, you might want to help them pick a game because the site does feature some games geared more toward an older audience (like zombie games). If you need something to entertain your kids on-the-go, Miniclip also offers a number of games on mobile. Just check their page on the iOS or Android store to browse all the available titles for mobile play.
3. Acceleration Nation
Is your child interested in racing? If so, NASCAR’s Acceleration Nation site might be worth a visit. It has plenty of free content that is geared toward children, and it has an entire section dedicated to fun and games. There are personality quizzes to find out your driver type and free racing games to test your skills behind the wheel. If you have an older child who wants to learn about the science behind speed, they can learn about aerodynamics as they design their own car. Want to take the activities offline? Download coloring sheets, mazes, bingo, and more! We appreciate that NASCAR is doing its best to both educate and entertain.
4. Nick Jr.
Do you always have the television on Nickelodeon’s network geared toward younger children? If so, you’re in luck! The channel’s website has multiple racing games featuring its most popular characters—all at no cost to you. Your child can “Race to the Rescue” with Blaze and the Monster Machines, or they can drive around with the Paw Patrol crew and pick up party favors for a big celebration. If they’re looking for a way to display their inner artist, there are also digital coloring books and sticker books for even more fun. We really love the offerings on this site because if your child is ready to move on from car-themed activities, there are plenty of alternatives that are still age appropriate.
5. Disney LOL
A list of games geared toward kids just doesn’t seem complete without an appearance by Disney! Not only does Disney LOL have an entire section of free car racing games, these particular choices feature some of the most iconic characters imaginable. Instead of racing around with a generic character, your children can choose from some of the most iconic kids’ characters ever, like Mickey Mouse, Goofy, or Lightning McQueen. Much like Nickelodeon Jr.’s website, we love Disney LOL because if your child works through all of the car-related offerings, they can always find additional entertainment by switching to Star Wars, Frozen, Marvel or other popular Disney-owned properties.
6. Direct Auto
If you have a child who is on the verge of driving, Direct Auto Insurance might be useful for them, but this one is more for the adults than the kids. If you enjoy putting your knowledge to the test and learning new information, Direct Auto offers a number of free quizzes to help make learning about car insurance fun and entertaining.
