For some people, it’s not the destination that matters; it’s the journey. One of Laura’s favorite road trips is the perfect example of enjoying any time spent away from the stress of everyday life.

A few years ago, she and several friends took what she refers to as a “wandering” road trip. They packed the essentials and some snacks (hello, Hawaiian roll ham sliders) and then started in a general direction. Every few hours, they’d pull up Google maps, close their eyes, and point in a new direction. Once Laura and her friends knew the following location, they’d quickly look up points of interest and try to hit at least one on their way through. They ended up lost a time or two, but the memories and the laughs were well worth it.
