Each year on November 11th, Americans all over the world come together to honor those who served the United States in the armed services. Birmingham, Alabama: The National Veterans Day Parade
America’s very first Veterans Day parade was held in Birmingham and the occasion continues to be a massive event there. The parade begins at 1:30PM on November 11th, and you can find the parade route on the event website.
Fort Smith, Arkansas: 2017 Veterans Day Parade at Chaffee Crossing
The city of Fort Smith is known for going all out for Veterans Day. Their 6th annual Veterans Day Parade & Celebration begins at noon on November 4th and is followed immediately by the Veterans Honors Ceremony. Other activities include musical entertainment, helicopter rides, an inflatable slide, and face painting!
Jacksonville, Florida: Veterans Day Parade
More than 4,000 people are taking part in Jacksonville’s parade this year, which begins in downtown Jacksonville at EverBank Field at 11:00AM on November 11th. Enjoy giant balloons, the tunes of local marching bands, and the patriotism of everyone in attendance!
Atlanta, Georgia: 36th Annual Atlanta Veterans Day Parade
This year, the 2017 Grand Marshal Major General James E. Livingston will kick off the Parade at 11:11AM on November 11th. The parade begins in downtown Atlanta on Peachtree Street. The full route can be found on the event website.
Shreveport, Louisiana: Veterans & Military Appreciation Day
On Sunday, November 12th, all veterans and families will receive free parking and entrance to the Louisiana State Fair. The parade down the State Fair Midway will kick off at 2:05PM, followed by the Veterans Program immediately after.
Biloxi, Mississippi: Gulf Coast Veterans Parade
The 17th annual Gulf Coast Veterans Parade will take place on November 11th. The festival will begin at 10:00AM and the parade will begin at 11:00AM. Arrive early for a good viewing spot and to make sure you can catch one of the special parade doubloons that will be tossed by grand and honorary marshals!
Fayetteville, North Carolina: 2017 Fayetteville Veterans Day Parade
This year, the Fayetteville Veterans Day Parade will be held on November 4th. The parade starts at 10:00AM in historic downtown Fayetteville and this year’s theme is “Honoring our Vietnam Veterans.” The parade is just one event during the area’s weeklong “Heroes Homecoming V” celebration. Other events include special exhibits around Fayetteville, a military-themed movie night, a free yellow ribbon dinner, and a motorcycle rally with food trucks. There will also be tattoo and beard contests.
North Charleston, South Carolina: Annual Veterans Day Tribute
North Charleston hosts a special Veterans Day Tribute every year, bringing around 500 veterans into town annually. This year, the tribute will take place on November 10th and run from 10:30AM to 1:00PM at Park Circle.
Knoxville, Tennessee: Veterans Day Parade
The annual Veterans Day Parade in Knoxville will take place on November 10th this year. The parade begins at 10:45AM at the Knoxville Coliseum and veterans will be honored at 11:00AM.
Houston, Texas: Houston Salutes American Heroes Veterans Day Celebration
Each year, Houston hosts Veterans Day celebrations and events to honor those who have served. This November 11th event includes a job, resource, and health fair for veterans, a formal ceremony, and a 21-gun salute.
Arlington, Virginia: National Veterans Day Ceremony
The Arlington National Cemetery is home to the national Veterans Day service each year, including a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This year’s ceremony will take place on November 11th at 11:00AM.
Branson, Missouri: Annual Branson Veterans Day Parade
In Branson, Veterans Day is actually Veterans Week.
