How to Get Your Second Stimulus Check

The federal government has begun depositing the second round of economic stimulus checks into eligible taxpayers’ bank accounts. If you have direct deposit set up with the Internal Revenue Service, you will be among the first to receive stimulus payments of up to $600.
The IRS deadline to provide your direct deposit information was May 13, 2020. Those without current direct deposit information on file with the IRS will receive the payment as a paper check or debit card in the mail.
According to the IRS, if more legislation is enacted to increase payments, payments that have been issued will be adjusted “as quickly as possible.”
When Will I Get My Stimulus Check?
Direct deposit payments began on Tuesday, Dec. 29, and paper checks began to be mailed Wednesday, Dec. 30. A limited number of people will receive their payment via Economic Impact Payment (EIP) debit card in the mail, which also began to be mailed Dec. 30.
According to the IRS, you can look for a payment starting now through the first weeks of January, with some recipients possibly seeing their direct deposit payment as pending or as a provisional payment in their accounts before the official payment date of Jan. 4, 2021.
How Do I Check the Status of My IRS Payment?
You can check the status of your first and second payments using the Get My Payment portal at IRS.gov. Click the blue ‘Get My Payment’ button to get started.
