Did you know we’ve been making chicken salad in America for more than 150 years? The first chicken salad dish was served in Rhode Island in 1863 and it’s no wonder it’s stood the test of time since then. It’s light, flavorful, and quick to make–the perfect summertime meal! You can even throw it together using leftovers you already have. Watch our helpful “how-to” video below to see how it’s done!

How to Make: Chicken Salad

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. boiled chicken
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup grapes (halved)
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup chopped roasted pecans
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper

Directions:

  1. Combine chicken, celery, grapes, dried cherries, pecans, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Stir together, chill, and serve.
